For me it was several months. It took some trial and error to get head-gear that worked. And then a couple of months of paying of my "sleep debt" from all my years of poor sleep. I probably suffered from sleep apnea for 15 years. Now after 6 months on CPAP I've gone from 12 hours of sleep a day to 6-8. For some people the change is immediate. For me it took much longer - but it did come.
