It varies from person to person. In my case, I saw some immediate results, though I have had some ups and downs since then. My very first night on CPAP and, for that matter, even in my titration, I dreamed for the first night in years! I also immediately stopped getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Those were my first signs that CPAP was an improvment. Of course, it took a week or two to get used to being hooked up and I still wake lightly a few times a night to adjust for leaks, but things have gotten better along the way. I felt a lot more energy after a couple of weeks on CPAP and even started to slowly lose some weight. So far, 7 pounds in 8 months.

I have in the last couple of weeks started to pay back my sleep debt. I wondered why I didn't start doing that right from the beginning. After I adjusted to the machine, I was only getting about 6 hours a night, though that felt sufficient. A couple of months ago, I was laid off from my job as a computer programmer. Now, I think I know why it took a while to start paying off that debt! I believe it was job stress. I think I would have been getting less than normal sleep, even if I didn't have OSA. Now, I am sleeping anywhere from 8-10 hours a night.

It took a long time to get in the shape I was in, and I expect it will take a long time to return to "normal". However, the great strides I have made are a super incentive to keep going. I haven't felt this great in years and hope to keep improving.

Good luck to you.
