My friend, I hear the desperation in your plea and I sympathize. I had a horrible time, initially, without the heated humidifier; I might as well have had nothing as the one without heat. I sneezed 40 or 50 times a day and had a constantly dripping and running nose and the inside of my nose was bleeding and sore. I have been on C-PAP about 15 months and continue to have a love/hate relationship with it, but finally can see enough difference to not even take a nap without it. (My husband has been on one for 8 years+.) I have had a hellish time getting correctly fitted with a mask and don't know what I would have done without my daughter's intervention--she used a set of those little sunshields that the sun tanners use to protect their eyes and made little silicone cups that I have fastened together with a thread and they just rest atop my eyelids. This has finally reduced the damage that air leakage was doing to my eyes. In addition, the corneal specialist installed little punctal plugs in the tear ducts in the inside lower corner of my eyelids and this helps hold the moisture in the eyes. I have spent at least as much time with the eye doctor as the respiratory specialist. This forum has been a God send; I am daily grateful for the help and support and suggestions of the contributors and to our wonderful Sandman for maintaining the site. I pray that you will hang in there and eventually reap the benefits of the machine and that your health will otherwise improve. I know that we are all pulling for you. God bless.
