Since I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada the laws are different and I was told I need a doctors letter because the full face mask sucks air into the mouth and therefore stomach and causes other problems. This is serious enough for them CPAP suppliers to be forced to get this doctors letter so that they know that the patient understands this potential problem.
As for insurance I cannot buy insurance from anyone as I already have a problem and there is no insurance for this in Canada unless someone works for a company which already has a plan for this. Since I work for myself I cannot get an insurance and it would be very costly. Also most medicine and doctors in Canada are already free but CPAP equipment is not covered by Medicare. Howver all our testing to see if we need CPAP is done at the hospitals for free but there is now a 6 month waiting time. I am already pass this stage.
