cpap and mouth breathing?

Posted by joe smith on January 08, 2002 at 18:25:55:

My respiratory tech from home health told me that you can't really breathe through the mouth once your cpap machine is turned on and its true- at the very least you would wake yourself up- its seems physically not very easy to do. Why then are there posts talking about mouth breathing and cpap?Supposedly I guess with mouth breathing it eliminates the effectiveness of cpap. I am worried I may be mouth breathing and not getting the full effects of cpap even though I clench and grind my teeth alot at night usually.
