Posted by westernjoe on January 11, 2002 at 08:07:56:It's the policy of this forum to remove any postings that show/tell/suggest people change their cpap settings but after some thought this looks semi-bogus, here's why:
Cpap settings are basically 'dosage' of a treatment. Doctors give us perscriptions for entire bottles of pills that can easily kill us if we dont follow the 'dosage'. This dosage dispensing is UP TO US to do correctly. The doctor trusts us. Either that, or the Dr just doesnt have a way to control that too. Maybe in the future we wont get a bottle but a small box that will dispense the pills as needed.
Usually things that dont make sense like this can be traced back to one thing: money.
I dont like being treated as a mindless patient who relys soley on a dr for all wisdom. Dr are great but they can only do so much, and nobody cares about, or has the energy to solve your medical problems as much as you do.
This forum is used mainly by people who want to take control of their health. Most of us know more about our sleep then our dr do. Mainly because they wont stop long enough for us to tell them.
Please consider allowing posts concerning cpap dosages.
I hope this posting doesnt get removed :)
