Posted by Benny on January 11, 2002 at 21:12:53:Hi! My husband told me I stopped breathing while snoring very loudly. I went to a sleep clinic and was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea and didn't even get into REM sleep. This probably also explains the weight loss and night sweats over the past few years. However 1 1/2 years ago I had a strange occurance which I wonder if it is related:
I felt like vice grips squeezed my head just above the ears. Tests didn't reveal anything but then everyday I'd get this feeling come over me. Soon it came with red hot feeling in the ears and funny feeling in the face (sinus?). I coldn't relate it to anything but thought coffee made it worse. it happened frquently. My doctor tried many prescriptions and for the last year I've been on Effexor. It seems to help until the end of the day when I need to take the pill and the feeling returns. If I forget a pill the symptoms are like distorted equilibrium/dizziness when stand. Could this bizarre head gripping feeling be somehow related to sleep apnea? Anyone ever have this happen? Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks, Benny
