Kevin:

Not all of us are lucky enough to have access to a tech as knowledgable, thoughtful, and professional as you seem to be.

You mention an ongoing study that indicates 40% of autoPAP patients are getting the wrong pressure. I am not surprised. My hunch is that most of these people (or their sleep doctor or sleep tech or DME) completely accepted the hype that the sales rep. was giving them. These people are probably NOT following the approach that was suggested and quickly removed from this forum.

Adjusting your pressure based on 'how you feel' is rather silly. But doctors do it all the time. I recently took Mom to see a guy that had a good reputation. Mom's titration said she needed 5.0cm and this guy suggested that I try 10cm and 'see how she does'. Why bother with titrations if doctors can just look at you and determine a pressure? (That was the first and last appointment with that guy, by the way.)

What some of us were suggesting was that the intelligent use of the objective data supplied by the machine would lead to better treatment of the apnea.

Just out of curiosity, do you know of any study that has tested patients on several consecutive nights to see how much the pressure needs fluctuate?
