Calculating from when my sleep became poor and I started having numerous night-time trips to the bathroom, I would say I had a good 19 years of sleep apnea before getting treatment - and treatment only occurred after I had had CHF for 2 years. I would hope that no one would have to wait till their health was wrecked before they were able to get treatment, but often times that does not seem to be how the medical establishment works. And, it has little, if anything, to do with whether a person has the money to buy the equipment on their own - if a person isn't given the diagnosis they don't end up with the knowledge, or the prescription, to buy the equipment.
