Tell your doctor you need an autopap with download cable and software so you can check your compliance on a daily basis and you also won't have the highest pressure 100% of the time. Research this website using the search box, read what the various sleep mall vendors show about the various types of equipment, masks etc. Then discuss with your doctor what you came up with. If the doctor writes the brand name of the equipment and mask on the prescription, that's what the insurance and DME will have to give you. Also tell him from your research (on this site) you need a heated humidifier to keep your sinuses and airways from getting all dried out. If your doctor also puts on the prescription the software and download cable, you'll get that too. The DME told me the software and cable was for him. I said "NO" it was on the prescription and it was for ME. I had to be firm, but I got them. There are lots of differences of opinion about which machine, mask and humidifier combination is best. Ultimately the arrangement I would suggest for you, is whatever you feel many/most? of the contributors to this site seem to feel works best for them. For starters, I would guess that would be a Fisher & Paykel heated humidifier, an autopap of either Goodknight 418P, Sunrise/Devilbiss AutoAdjustLT, or an AutoSet T. Masks probably would be Breeze pillows or Ultra Mirage. After the mask brand name on the prescription have the doctor add "for comfortable and non-leak seal". So the DME will have to fit you, rather than give you whatever size is on the shelf. I'm sure there would be lots of contrary opinions, but these are my guesses. Happy research and Good luck.
