I hear ya, but my own experiences with my sleep doctor show a more liberal methodology by the physicians themselves. During my follow-up office visit I noted that I still felt that my sleep was sub-par, and not very restorative. I was set on Bipap at 10/6. His advice was, and I quote, "well, give it a try at 12/8 and just see how you feel -- you can't hurt yourself."
????? Now, I accept all the arguments concerning unrestrained fiddling with one's pressures, but there clearly is a medically-approved zone within which one can experiment.
I do NOT think such information should be restrained. And Sandman, if the issue is liability, perhaps your attorney would be satisfied by posting a prominent disclaimer.
But don't hold back the information -- there's no basis for doing so.
