I've also read that the 418P only holds the previous night's 12-hour detailed record showing the pressure used and when(in time) your events occurred during the night. I think you only need to download daily IF you want that detailed record. The event counts data can be downloaded less often but you won't get the detailed records for anything other than the last night of detailed data from your multi-night download.

Check out the following web page(http://members.dingoblue.net.au/~rowney/sleep/autopap/autopapsw.html) and look at graphs 12-15 for the detailed data from the previous night's data(up to 12 hours of sleep during that night). The information I'm providing is from what I've read(I have not tried the 418P myself).
