I have been on cpap over five years and been retested several times. About two years ago I started to feel tired. My primary dr suggested that I have a complete workup;ie, heart, lung, blood, etc, to eliminate possibility of other causes. In the blood work they discovered on two different occassions that my hemoglobin was 18.8 and my hematocrit was 54.6-both a little high. Also my red red blood cell count was 6.36-a little high too. What does all this mean? I have no idea; but, it appears that the counts went up only in the past year or two. So, it could be completed related to apnea and my settings are not right. Which could explain why I am now taking provigil and mireflex prescriptions. Look forward to other responses.
