By all means you must learn as much as possible. Look at FAQ's at the home page and use the search function for particulars. You may find the sleep definitions/terms most helpful as there are many acronyms tossed around. But learn as much as possible. Many "specialists" are really pulmonlogists, ENT's or nuerologists without the expertise you expect. Learning more will help you find out if your doctor is a sleep specialist expert or just a side show. Consider getting "The Promise of Sleep" by Dr. Dement either from a library or bookstore. It costs $15 in paperback and though it is 400+ pages, it is very readable and you don't have to read it from cover-to-cover.

Good luck. You are on the right track in this forum.
