Just some quick comments.

Most of us are on plain CPAP and do just fine, so I wouldn't worry if you end up having to go that route. I will let someone else who is more familiar with APAP to comment on that

Will your insurance buy the equipment or will they rent it (Mine won't buy it, so I pay 10% of the rental per month) You might want to make sure first. Maybe you could rent a machine for a couple months first to see if it works for you.

As far as the humidifier is concerned, go with the heated one. I live in Florida and it is often VERY humid, however, the inside of my house is dry because of air conditioning. So if you heat or cool your house, you will probably want the heated humidifier.
