New Breeze user needs expert advice

Posted by Stan on February 08, 2002 at 20:29:43:

My new Breeze headgear and nasal pillows arrived today, and although I haven't slept with it, I did try it out. My main reason for buying it was to avoid eye irritation from mask leaks. That problem is solved, but there are others. I also thought it might be more comfortable. So far it is not.

I can see why some are so strong on using a heated humidifier. The air flow into the nose is more direct and forceful than the diffused flow through a mask. I don't think I can use it without the humidifier, although I have used a mask for years with no drying problem.

In adjusting the headgear it directs you to start with all adjustments fully extended. Eventually, you are to bring the nasal pillows to the face. In my case the nasal pillows are already bearing against the face even with everything fully extended. I can live with that except the part holding the nasal pillows bears against my upper lip with some discomfort. This is with the pillows angle adjusted to properly fit my nose.

Lying on my back, I find that any movement of the head will disturb the fit, resulting in leaks. When I turn to the side, the fit is disturbed causing leaks. In other words, I do not find the system to be very stable, and definitely not as stable as my bubble mask.

I am presently using 15 cm. At this pressure my nose does expand. Makes me wonder what this will do to my nose over a long period of usage. I don't want it any bigger (grin).

I know that many are very happy with this system. Maybe you could comment on anything I may have missed. I would like to make it work.
