Posted by G Boogie on February 08, 2002 at 20:32:04:First, a disclaimer: I know it's not the job of this forum to design masks, but I think this might lead to a better full face mask for those apnea patients that need one.
Who has experience with both the Ultra Mirage Nasal Mask and the Series 2 Mirage Full Face Mask?
Is it just me, or would the Series 2 work a whole lot better if it was just a larger version of the Ultra Mirage?
A common tip from the Series 2 users on this forum is to place some item (hankie, cosmetic sponge, etc.) under the 'arm' at the top of the mask to keep the bottom of the mask from leaking. Isn't the 'forehead support arm' of the Ultra Mirage perfect for doing this job?? And on the Ultra Mirage, you can choose 4 different angles.
The Ultra Mirage also has 2 quick release functions that the Series 2 doesn't. One where the hose meets the mask, for the quick trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night. And the other where the straps meet the frame, so you don't have to re-do all the velcro tabs every night.
And what's up with the different templates to determine your size? With the Ultra Mirage there are 3 holes. 1 for each of the 3 sizes. Very simple and easy to use. With the Series 2, there is only 1 whole and a lot of colored plastic. Which one is the right size? I found it difficult to use.
Well, what do the Series 2 users think?
