I live in Vero Beach, FL and use a heated humidifier, cranked all the way up during the summer, but much lower now. Even though the air is humid, the house is dry because of air conditioning. And I don't have any of the problems your tech described.

I don't like to breath hot moist air but find this is ok. By the way, I started using the Breeze in October and that is even better since my face does not get exposed.

You might try a heating pad to see if that helps, and if so, go for the heated humidifier.
