Allergic reaction to face mask

Posted by Jeanie on February 14, 2002 at 19:58:52:

Have had CPAP three weeks and have used two different face masks: gel and non-gel. I am latex intolerant and although these are supposed to be "latex free" my face is breaking out in hives where the mask and straps have been...and the hives don't go away before it's time to put the mask back on. Today my tech told me to not use it until we can figure something out. Any ideas? I am taking an antihistamine before I go to bed, and have tried to cover the straps, but then the mask leaks.
