Posted by Tory on February 15, 2002 at 07:21:46:Hi Everyone..
I've had the CPAP for a couple of weeks. It started out
great - I adjust easily to things, so I'm lucky. But here's the rub. I live in high-altitude desert and I
started having trouble with nose bleeds. So I asked for and received a heated humidifier. Now my nose is congested -
not to where I could blow it to clear it, but way up in
the sinuses. I feel like I'm suffocating. I can breathe
in, but to breathe out through the pressure AND the
congestion is too much.I did a search and saw this subject before, but didn't
find an answer to my question: Has anyone else had this
experience where this was temporary?? I hesitate to ask
for a Bi-Pap only 2 weeks into this and my doc's office
gets very impatient when I call, don't want to hear it.I have not slept for the last 3 nights. I feel like I'm
worse off than when I started. Now that I know what *real*
breathing is like, I can't sleep without the CPAP, but now
I can't sleep with it either! I had the humidity up to
a 5 at first, but even down to 1 I am getting the suffocation. I don't have any allergies. Using a saline
solution doesn't touch the sinus congestion.I would be very grateful for any help here. I am at my
wits end and feel like "what's the point?" right now. Pretty much near the end of my tether. Thanks for any help-
Tory
