Even though I was doing better by heating my passover humidifier, I was still having some problems with minor dryness, congestion, and headaches. When I changed from heating my passover unit with a heating pad to a heated humidifier, the change was dramatic. My sinuses opened up and the tissues were soothed by the increased humidity. The headaches went away completely. Instead of having to use a full face mask, I was able to use nasal masks and now use nasal pillows which for me have fewer leak problems and do a much better job of treating my apnea.

Get the heated humidifier and he will see the difference. When you order the heated humidifier, also get or make an insulating sleeve for the hose going to the mask. This will help to control condensation in the hose and mask (what we call "rainout"). Without the sleeve rainout will definately occur and can be very disturbing, especially when it shoots water up your nose.

p.s. everyones need for humidity varies so he will have to try different settings to get it right for him. I need a lot of humidity and always have my humidifier set on the highest setting. Let us know how it goes.
