Hi Stephen

Is this your first sleep test?

I did not sleep with a mask my first sleep test. That came during the second test. The sleep technicians were very helpful in helping me select a mask that would be comfortable for me. There are many variety's, I am sure you will find one that will not make you feel claustrophobic, etc.

The test is really quite simple: they hook you up to a monitor to see if you stop breathing, if you go into a deep sleep, if you snore, if you move your legs (just to name a few). The test does not hurt, and the sleep clinic people are ready to deal with all kinds of people. I too, for instance, was nervous and had to get up to pee 3 times during my first test. They were very patient with me.

The second test was so easy. . .they helped me choose a mask, and I slept for 6 1/2 hours. . .for the first time in years. It was wonderful.

I think all of us have developed Anxiety & Depression (from lack of sleep) over the discourse of our OSA (some to a higher degree than others). I was completely surprised to find out from both my doctor and this forum, that the lack of oxygen during sleep affects a multitude of our vital organs and eventually our personality. I think you will be grateful to know if Sleep Apnea is one of your problems.

Good luck. .. and let us know how everything worked out.

Robert
