Sorry you are having this problem. I found that the humidified air "feels" different, and the first few nights for me I experienced that as congestion. Over time, however, I got used to it and the added humidity does seem to help.

I also find an auto CPAP is more comfortable for me because it reduces the pressure when I exhale, which helps that feeling of congestion upon exhaling.

So, perhaps time an acclimation will help you. I hope so.

The only other thing I tried that was helpful was to use Afrin while I adapted to the feel of the humidifier.

Now when I'm get a feeling of congestion, I start by trying some hot pepper sauce (or some have suggested horseradish or Japanese wasabi). That usually does the trick for me now!

The feeling of not being able to exhale is miserable. I hope you get through it. Persevere!
