No drying or nosebleeds, just congestion...

Posted by tomtom on February 15, 2002 at 20:16:03:

I know I've asked too many questions on humidification/heated humidification, but just to clarify one thing: I have never had nosebleeds or the "dryness" problem many people talk about, possibly because it is almost always humid where I live (even with A/C to some degree). But, my problem is sinus congestion and infections. Also once in a while since using CPAP, maybe once a month or so, I'll wake up with the irritation feeling of like a burr or something way up my nose, which starts a runny nose/allergy type thing that won't go away and lasts for a couple of days. But mainly, the sinus congestion problem more than anything, and NOT the dryness, "dry nose" feeling or nosebleeds. Does this STILL mean that the answer is probably a heated humidifier, just for congestion problems alone without dryness or nosebleeds? And, has anyone else woken up from CPAP sometimes with that allergic "digging at you, pricking or burr" feeling way up in the nose after they wake up once in a while that causes an allergy-type reaction like I described?
