I don't know if it's common or not, but it can be done. As I have often posted, I've done it, although I do have some relapses from time to time.

Put your tongue up against the roof of your mouth behind your front teeth. Close you mouth (but don't clench your teeth). Visualize keeping your mouth shut.

Worked for me! I got better at it after having nasal surgery to repair a deviated septum and remove nasal polyps.
