The runny nose/allergy thing is the most common complaint that is relieved by a heated humidifier. This is the body's reaction to the drying effect of unheated, dry air being blasted up your nose.

I suggest you use the forum's excellent search engine, located at the top of each forum page, and search on "runny nose" and similar subjects. You will get a gazillion posts and suggestions, as these questions have been answered again and again.
