I have flown several times post 9/11 with my gear. I have had two problems. On a non-US carrier, I was told I could take only one carryon, no matter what was in it (they are not bound by US DOT rules). On a trip from Boston to San Francisco, I was given a big hassle about the extra carryon, despite showing the form letter from this forum and Dr's prescription and letter. She claimed it just said I could take it on board, and she denied that it would not count as a carryon. The main problem here is she was not good at reading, I suspect, since this is plainly stated in the letter. There is nothing we can do about this except to try to improve education! (By the way, she finally let me on with both bags, but I did get a thorough body frisk by another (male) agent. Obviously I am a security risk. (lol)
