Posted by Chewbacca on March 11, 2002 at 07:22:28:I am very new to this sleep apnea thing. In fact, I go for my very first sleep study on Friday. I am sure I have OSA as I have most of the classic symptoms and my wife tells me that in and amongst my eardrum shattering snoring, I stop breathing once in a while. Stumbling across this forum has been a God-send since it has already provided a wealth of information, but I still have a few questions.
1. What kind of information should I be looking to get out of this first study? They tell me that it will take two weeks to compile all of the data, is this normal?
2. Assuming CPAP is recommended, what kind of freedom do I get in choosing the manufacturer/model as well as accessories (i.e. humidifier)?
3. Is an ENT necessary in the beginning? I have a referral to one already, but was waiting until I got the results from the sleep study before I made the appointment.
Thanks to everyone out there that is providing this very useful information, and a special thanks to the Sandman for providing the Service!
