It seems that if your airway is blocked, it shouldn't matter if there's oxygen or CO2 trying to get into your mouth or nose. CPAP forces the airway open with pressure, but it don't seem like O2 without pressure could do anything like that. However, past posters have reported help from O2. Apparently, the O2 must prevent apneas. Maybe higher O2 levels in the blood prevents apneas somehow. Maybe the throat muscles have better tone with higher O2, or maybe the O2 in the throat reduces swelling or something. Does anybody know how this could actually work?
