I used Afrin every day for 12 years and finally got immune to it. 1 dose would free up my sinuses for about 4 hours instead of 12. Here's what worked for me: I got my physician to prescribe Nasacort AQ. I continued to use the Afrin for the first 3 or 4 nights until the AQ had a chance to start working. I then stopped using the Afrin in one nostril. After 5 nights, the nostril I wasnt using Afrin became unblocked. I then quit using the Afrin in the other nostril and the Nasacort was kicking in good by that time and it only took 2 nights to become Afrin free. I know it's just one nasal spray to another but I have to breathe somehow. I have also used other nasal cortosteroids to the point of becoming immune to them, but I can switch from Nasonex, to Nasacort to Flonase about once a year and dont have problems anymore.

Kinda wordy, but I hope this helps.

Ed
