Unfortunately it sounds like Fog has run into a somewhat common problem. NO AutoCPAP WORKS FOR ALL - there is no guarantee that one will work for you.
While most people can use any AutoCPAP, some need to be matched to a specific machine that will work best for them, and a few cannot use one at all.
That being said, many people (especially those at the higher pressures) find that they are indespensable, and the vast majority of people find success with an AutoCPAP.
Just remember that all of the machines have their failure to work with some people (and you will find numerous post about all of the machines failing with various people in the archives).
This is because they all work differently. It is important to understand how each of them works, and thier limitations.
For a good rundown go back to forum 69 and find my posting of "Which AutoCPAP - The Choices" (there are 6 machines currently in the US market).
More information can be found back in the 38-41 range where there was a lot of discussion. I think that forum 39 has a post I did on designing an autoCPAP.
If you want a real eductaion go back to the mid 30's and read every posting I did on AutoCPAPs (working forward forum by forum).
In fog's case, most people who have problems with the AutoSet T tend to find that the AutoAdjust LT works for them (and for those that the AutoAdjust LT does not work - try the 418P or AutoSet T). Of course - this is often out or your own pocket.
Hope this helps.
