sleep apnea and seizures

Posted by Jim on March 28, 2002 at 06:56:04:

I have suffered from painful muscle spasms and seizures for years during my sleep. I also suffer from sleep apnea. I have often thought the conditions may be related, but doctors have told me it was unlikely. Does anyone know if sleep apnea could bring on a seizure or muscle spasm? I have no problems with seizures while I am awake, only while I am sleeping and since my sleep is being distrupted with apnea it is logical to me that they could be related.
I am interested in hearing from anyone that has experiance with this condition or advice.
