Fisher & Paykel HC-220/221

Posted by Marc on April 06, 2002 at 07:33:09:

I've recently been diagnosed with OSA (I imagine this is a standard greeting here in this forum!), and I have narrowed down my CPAP equipment choices to a combined heated humidifier/CPAP system: either the Respironics RemStar Plus or the Fisher&Paykel HC-220/221.

Aesthetically, I like the RemStar, but the separate base and water container is a bit more cumbersome than the all-in-one design of the HC-221. I like the idea of the Ambient Tracking of room humidity that the HC-221 has, but I can't seem to find out if the HC-221's starting ramp pressure can be adjusted.

I know that the RemStar's ramp can start anywhere from 4 or higher, but I'm worried that the HC-221's ramp HAS TO start at 3, which may be a bit low (judging from my therapist's recommendation, and others on this forum). Has anyone had any experience with the HC-221, or does anyone know if the HC-221's starting ramp pressure can be set higher than 3?

Thanks heaps in advance for any advice/info.
