I think we have all faced this dilema. My first sleep doc just couldn't understand why I wanted to know where I picked up my cpap machine on my way hope from his office after my first visit. I did not know anything about sleep studies or titrations. I just knew that I had the malady and wanted it fixed now, waiting was not something I was willing to do. Then there was the sleep lab. My in home overnight study was a few days later. What a misery that was. For anyone who thinks they ever had a mask problem, I'd be dead by now if their mask was the only choice. Better off taping the hose in your mouth than that thing. Think tennis ball with a hole in it. They thought it was perfectly fine to take two weeks to 'score' the test. They couldn't understand why I wanted to know right now wether or not I had the disease. Seemed reasonable to me. After two weeks I had the titration study. More lost time. So my doc calls, I go see him that same day and he shows me some charts and gives me a script. In the meantime I had called the local dme's and listened to all of their excuses why I could not get a pap in less than three to sis weeks. Joe, mastercard, and fedex took care of that. It must be perspective and the fact that they are not suffering. I think it is criminal that anyone initially dx'd does not have the opportunity to spend as much time in a clinic as necessary beginning that night and continuing until they get effical treatment. So, Spongebob, suffer along for a bit more, you are in good company, and you will get treated.
