I keep haunting this board in hopes that someone would talk about how emotionally devestating this condition can be.

I'm not sure how long I've had it, probably for a long time, but I've had lots of chronic health problems in the past ten years, so it is very difficult to figure out which symptom belong to which condition.

All I know is that I'm trying to figure out where the apnea begins and character ends or vice-versa.

I'm trying to work through a lot of the issues you describe. Although I have great faith that CPAP will be my salvation, the adjustment hasn't been all that easy and I'm just feeling depressed about the way I'm being treated at work. I've finally gotton some accommodation under FMLA, but you'd think I'm a criminal rather than someone with a problem the way HR is dealing with me.

And since no one knows any more about apnea than I did before the diagnosis, it is impossible to explain what it's like; others sort of look at you like your a hypochondriac. I emailed AWAKE to see if there are any support groups in the Seattle area, but I haven't heard from them.

I've rejoined the gym and have started swimming again, an exercise I really love, very relaxing and I'm good at it. I'm also trying to get to bed really early to pay back the sleep debt; anyway, what I need more than anything right now is support, and this is the only place there seems to be any.

You'll be amazed at how much better you feel once you're on CPAP; I think I'm gaing a little ground every day . . . dealing with the psychological aftermath is tough.

Take care,
