Mouth Breathing Question

Posted by JohnK on April 18, 2002 at 07:11:06:

I have a question regarding mouth breathing. I have read through the forums for fixes but am reluctant to add to the complexity of the CPAP routine as I a have just recently been able to adjust to it's use. A chin strap or mouth tape would be just one more thing to get used to and am afraid I would suffer a setback. So my question is how do you know if mouth breathing is a problem? Will most people wake up when they are mouth breathing. I ask because although I feel like I am sleeping much better, no snoring, much less frequent bathroom trips etc, I do however wake occassionally with mouth breathing. It is usually in the morning and only one or two times a week at most. I am concerned because I know that mouth breathing can negate the benefits of CPAP and want to maximize the benefits of its use.
