Lack of energy for exercise is one reason for the weight gain as several people have pointed out. My doctor also said that when you do not have normal sleep cycles, you do not produce leptin. Not sure how to spell that. Leptin has something to do with weight control. He also said that their are some who believe metabolism is affected by apnea. I believe that is true, in that I immediately started losing weight when my apnea was treated. I was totally unable to lose before treatment. The doctor says this happens with some people, but unfortunately not everyone.
