Couldn't sleep during sleep study!

Posted by sleepless on May 02, 2002 at 14:48:59:

I am so upset. I had a sleep study last night and could not sleep!! I know my heart rate was elvated as well as my blood pressure (it was through the roof) and I could not relax. I just kept focusing on I had to fall asleep. I eventually did for about 1 hour but it was very light. I don't think the test will be very accurate. Has this ever happened to anyone else? The tech told it me it does happen on occasion. I asked for something to reduce anxiety and they said no which I think is silly because those type of medications work quick and wear off quick. At least I could have relaxed.

When I look at the check list of symptoms for sleep apnea I have everyone of them. I am so upset bc I am tired of being tired all the time. I never imaged that I would end up not being able to sleep there. I came home and of course fell right to sleep.

Is it ever possible to get the test redone? Can the test be given at home? If the doctor determines from this test that I don't have apnea, should I push for another one?

Thanks for any help!
