Engineer, I am too, so I know how that can be. I had much the same symptoms, increasingly over the last six years or so. I recognized that I could not organize and run projects as I had in the past. I retained "old knowledge", skills that I had developed in my education and career. But I could not organize work, set priotities and occasionally had major incidents of loss (memory) of events. I have used your term "drunk", like a hangover without the headache. Now to my point.

Use the forum and learn as much as you can before you see your specialist. Check the library for "Promise of Sleep", Dr. Wm Dement. Look up American Academy of Sleep Medicine on the net. They are the accredidation group and will list accredited sleep center and Dr.s. If you are nodding off in the AM driving, you need help. It is most difficult at work. Many employers show little empathy and most of our co-workers (if they know of the problem) will think it's not anything more than missing a good nights sleep. Just try to be a step ahead by becoming more educated. Quite often, even recognized sleep professionals miss the boat. If it is a sleep disorder, there is now a lot of help available. That wasn't the case even 10 years ago. Good luck.
