Mask or pillows?

Posted by Scooter on May 06, 2002 at 11:10:03:

Hello all,
I am going to my DME tomorrow to get fitted for a new mask and to pick up a heated humidifier for my Respironics Solo LX machine. I was using a Resp. M/S Gold Seal mask until it broke. It seemed ok at the beginning but after about 6 months of use I really had to tighten it to get a good seal. Well, it finally broke (top piece that straps go through) and I have been using the Adam Circuit nasal pillow system for about a month now. Even though I am using too small of pillows (clear M), it really seems to keep a good seal most of the night. I say they were to small because it felt like they went too far up my nose to get a seal. Can anyone tell me which system (mask or npillows) and brand is best for a side sleeper? I cannot sleep on my back, I have tried and tried. If I fall asleep on my back, I am always on my side when I wake up. The DME I am going to is part of Baylor Medical Center (Dallas, TX) and they said I can come in and try anything I want and they have all the templates for proper fit. So getting the correct size should not be a concern. They also have a consultant there to talk to. I would just like to hear from those that have tried this and tried that and would like to know what you had the best luck with when sleeping on your side with a pillow. I have always gotten excelent advice and tips from this site and look forward to your input...
