I am facing the same issues. I have a ResMed AutoSet T and like you am not prepared to go away from an AutoPAP.
But there's a new machine on the NZ market which I'm about to try: the Breas PV10i is an AutoPAP, weight less than half that of the AutoSet T, runs off 12V and apparently draws only 35W. I am seriously thinking of using it as a travelling / backup machine. I'd couple it with the F&P humidifier for any trips over a day or so, I think. The humidifer can go in my checked luggage.
I am just awaiting the software so the machine can be set up for me, then I'll let you know how it checks out.
