First sleep study - is 48/hr high?

Posted by Very_Fatigued on May 16, 2002 at 16:39:19:

Just had my first sleep study, a split-night, and the sleep doc said I had 48 events per hour. I doubt I slept more than an hour. I haven't gotten the full report yet. I know this is high, but how high? I wasn't able to sleep with the mask on at all, so they couldn't get a recommended pressure on it at all. Should I ask for a second study and get a CPAP, or should I ask for an AutoPAP? If I get an AutoPAP, could I skip a second study entirely? Can they prescribe a CPAP without a pressure? Thank you for your advice!
