Diagnosis after Oximetry test

Posted by Engineer on May 17, 2002 at 02:52:52:

Hi all, I am just hear looking for some more advice...and everyone here
seems extremely clued up so hopefully you can help :)

I have had all the major symptoms of apnea in a major way for 9 months, and
in a lesser extent for years.

The symptoms

- very tired
- no concentration
- not very alert
- had to stop driving cos can't really process things fast enough
- foggy headed
- early morning headaches.

I have been to a sleep specialist who put me on an oximetry machine for the
night.

My O2 levels droped several times per hour to around 82 percent. My pulse
rate was up and down from 115 to 50 pretty much all night. Does your heart rate indicate apneas?

As a result he diagnosed me with mild apnea. Is this enough information to
go on for a comprehensive diagnosis or would you be looking for more tests?

I am actually really excited because it may mean I can get my life back
again :)

Is this enough to justify CPAP?

Any help would be much appreciated........
