Hi,

I'd be very interested in finding details concerning this 'altered step progression'. Any pointers to websites or studies or personal experiences would be VERY helful and greatly appreciated.

I'd like to find out if the altered step progression showed up on either of my sleep studies. My sleep center didn't seem to have much experience with fibro. Ok, I admit I was picky-- I asked them point blank if the CPAP would allow me to get more level 3 and some level 4 sleep - and they didn't know if it would do that for fibro people. That one question might not be a fair basis on which to evaluate their fibro expertise!! But, I'm greedy for knowledge...

Their description of my first study included: intrusion of fast alpha and beta activity; OSA (worse in REM sleep); fibrositis; frequent arousals and awakenings; early REM onset, increased light sleep and wake, decreased deep sleep. Is any of this the 'altered step progression'??

I was diagnosed with fibro 13 yrs ago. I see a fabulous, experienced fibro doc. I was diagnosed with OSA in 12/01. Finally got CPAP and mask working correctly in May '02. After the first night of 4 hours of CPAP assisted sleep, I awoke without my typical 'fibro muscle ache'. I have no idea if the rest of my fibro symptoms will go away. But, this is VERY nice.

Thanks,
Jmarie
I'll check out the CDC site.
