HELP-waking with puffed up mouth

Posted by sas on May 17, 2002 at 06:40:05:

This mouth breathing problem is getting WORSE, not better. I had no mouth breathing in the lab. For the first few nights on cpap, I had very little problem. Then the mouth breathing came back. I alternately used a chin strap (pushed up a bit to keep the lips closed) or tape. Last night I needed BOTH.

But then, several times, I woke up with my mouth full of air and my cheeks all puffed out! Since my mouth was closed, I had no alternative but to swallow the air, but it happened again several times.

How is this possible? What am I doing wrong?

I know many of you are happy going the FF mask route, but I couldn't even bear the straps on the Adams circuit. I am VERY happy with my Breeze and thinking of ordering a nasalaire as well.

What can I do to keep the air from coming back into my mouth?
