Hi David,

I was the one who posted about the whistling ff mask last Sunday (I think). What I did was take it apart and check the antiasphyxia valve, since that was where the noise seemed to be coming from. I reseated the soft rubber flap that makes an air seal unless there is no air pressure coming through the hose. No luck. I replaced it with a new part (should be included with the mask). After a lot of fiddling, I eliminated the whistle, but now there was a rush of air. Where was the leak coming from? Finally I immersed the mask in water (the old leaky tire trick) and discovered that there were leaks in two places: a little one at the antiasphyxia valve and a big one at the swivel joint further down. I fiddled a lot with it and finally replaced it with an old one I had from another ff mask. It is now enough better that I can use the mask.

What this suggests to me, since you've had this problem too, is that maybe there has been a run of lousy masks recently. I wonder if others have had this problem too.

By the way, be really careful with the valve. Those little plastic struts break really easily, and the part is expensive to replace. I have had two break since December (hence the old mask I use for parts).

Despite all this, I really like the mask!
