First night CPAP - head hurts bad

Posted by Very_Fatigued on May 31, 2002 at 11:36:34:

Last night was my first night on CPAP -- Resmed S6 CPAP, Resmed humidifer set to "3", Mirage FF mask, small size. I slept 8 hours (unusual for me) but woke up with a bad, bad headache that won't go away. I think the small mask is pinching my nose too bad (see my post "Mirage FF Series 2 question" below in this forum) and may be the cause of this headache. To take the pressure off my nose I stuffed toilet paper under the top bridge of the mask -- didn't work too well. I think I'm going to try a Medium mask or Medium-shallow to see if they are easier on the nose. Has anyone else gotten a headache on CPAP that won't go away? I'm only assuming that the headache is due to my mask size, but I don't really know for sure. I had my mask straps as loose as they could go without leaks; I don't think that I could get it any looser. Any suggestions? Thank you!
