Hi--I am new to this forum. I have just been diagnosed with OSA and have been trying to use the CPAP machine for a week. I have had to do some adjusting of the mask and also experienced the stiff neck from trying to avoid movement of the mask. I had to have the ramp time moved down--they had me set at 35 minutes which was way too long-now I am down to 5-10-20 whichever I choose.
I have not noticed any major changes except that my heart rate has dropped. Not having the excessive pounding in my chest has been a positive. I am still experiencing the higher blood pressure and fatigue. But my mental clarity has imporved--I don't wake up with a headache or fog as bad as before. How long does this process take before real recovery is felt? Has anyone lost a lot of weight as a result of the CPAP?
I know I had gained a lot of weight in a fairly short amount of time (I was always thin-normal)and have not been able to reduce the weight even though my food intake is not excessive.
Any helpful hints?
