I went ahead and trimmed my nasal aire on the inside, flush like you discribed. I didn't have much noise to begin with ,but I wanted to see what would happen. If I had ruined it, I was ready to get my new one anyway(now that I can get my nasal aire reimbursements from Medicaid), as I've had mine for over 3 months. The trimming didn't seem to hurt it any, even if I didn't need to do it, I've got to admit, it might be a tad quieter. You have to remember that the ports are much closer to your ears than the masks and that is why we hear the air.
