Although I know what flashing is, that is the word the Innomed rep referred to the "bumps" on the inside of the exhaust holes as. The manufacturer told me that they are there due to manufacturing requirements for the molding process. Hopefully, they can refine the process to eliminate them.

I am amazed that you found no difference after cutting them flush with the inside of the NasalAire cannula. On mine (X-Tra large - 15 pressure) the exhalation noise was eliminated completely when it was so loud that my wife noticed it. She got used to it quickly, referring to it as "white noise". It didn't really bother me but I'm happier without it.
